Reducing CO2

At Impey we are always looking to improve our level of environmental awareness and do what we can to reduce our impact on the environment as far as possible.

Reducing our carbon footprint is obviously something we are very keen to achieve, and as such we locally source as many of our products and materials as possible in an effort to reduce the level of transport required.

We also manufacture many of our own products which are then sold within the UK, again this helps to cut down on goods being transported into and out of the UK.

Recycling is also an area that we are always seeking to improve upon. Currently we recycle all used cardboard and are setting in place a process to ensure all used paper is also recycled. In our new building we have set into place a system that recycles water so that it can be used for flushing the WC’s.

We go to great lengths to reduce as far as possible the amount of packaging required for our products and continue to be open to suggestions on better practices.

In terms of reducing unnecessary packaging Impey has also released its very own ‘Green’ shopping bag which is made from 100% sustainable cotton. It is intended to reduce the number of non-biodegradable plastic bags you use at the supermarket, which helps a little towards saving our environment and cutting landfill waste.

On average each UK consumer receives 5 plastic bags per week, which amounts to a total consumption of approximately 17 billion plastic bags per year! Plastic bags can have a hugely detrimental effect on the environment and can prove to be extremely damaging to our local wild and marine life. As a result there are now towns in the UK that have banned the use of plastic bags altogether – its time we all followed suit.
